Privacy Policy

HeyMoo helps you plan your move to Japan. To do that, we ask you for some personal information. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, who processes it, and how to get it deleted. No legalese walls. If anything here is unclear, ask us.

1. Who we are

2. What we collect

Account data

  • Your email address and a password (stored hashed, we never see it in plain text).

Onboarding profile

  • Your relocation goal, professional field, employment status, and family situation.
  • The visa type we recommend based on your answers.

We know this is sensitive. It exists for one purpose: personalizing your journey. We never sell it, share it for advertising, or use it for anything other than running HeyMoo.

Activity in the app

  • Your journey progress, document checklist state, and personal notes on documents.
  • Your answers, bookmarks, and streak in the Discover daily deck.
  • Your HSP score inputs, if you use the calculator.

Chat with Moo

  • Messages you send to Moo, together with your onboarding profile, are sent to Anthropic (the AI provider) to generate a response. We do not store your chat history on our servers. Your conversation lives only in your browser for the current session.

3. Cookies and local storage

  • Session cookies from Supabase keep you logged in. They are strictly necessary, so no consent banner theater is needed for these.
  • Local storage on your device tracks small UI state: your daily free-message count for chat and whether you have seen new features. This never leaves your browser.
  • We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. None.

4. Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless tool, to count page views and understand which parts of HeyMoo people actually use. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you. We deliberately do not use Google Analytics or any advertising-based analytics.

5. Who processes your data for us

  • Supabase: database and authentication hosting.
  • Vercel: application hosting and anonymous, cookieless analytics.
  • Anthropic: processes chat messages to generate Moo's responses.
  • Resend: sends transactional emails (signup confirmation, password reset).

Each provider receives only what it needs to do its job. We have no other recipients, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

6. How long we keep it

Your data stays as long as your account exists. Delete your account and we delete your profile, activity, and interactions with it.

7. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Email 【要確認: contact email】 and we will act on it. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/EEA under GDPR), you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children

HeyMoo is not directed at children. If you are under 16, please do not create an account.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the app.
